The ERC-funded DISACT project (https://disacterc.com/) headed by Prof. Iosif Kovras (kovras.iosif@ucy.ac.cy) invites applications for a full-time Pre-Doctoral Researcher to support research on the legal consolidation of the crime of enforced disappearances in Latin America and its subsequent international codification.

The successful candidate will contribute to comparative research on truth commissions, landmark jurisprudence, and the development of international legal frameworks between the 1980s and mid-2000s. The position involves systematic analysis of legal documents, court rulings, transitional justice materials, as well as the reconstruction of how disappearance became codified in regional and international law.

Strong Spanish language skills are highly desirable. A background in Latin American politics, transitional justice, human rights law, or international law is also particularly welcome. Candidates should be comfortable working with court documentation and policy material; experience with text analysis methods would be an additional asset.

This position provides the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research on international accountability and the global institutionalization of norms within a dynamic ERC research team, with the possibility of international, peer-reviewed publications.

Interested candidates should submit the following items, in PDF or Word format, via email to Dr. Michalis Moutselos – Email address: moutselos.michail@ucy.ac.cy by April 5, 2026.
